More than 12,000 weddings have been cancelled this year, but the Opposition would have us believe that we’d finally seen the marriage we’d all been waiting for on budget day.
After months of discussions, Paschal Donohoe and Michael McGrath appeared yesterday morning, Dáil Éireann’s own Woody and Buzz Lightyear, with the freshly-bound book that had more leaks than Irish Water.
Even the Ceann Comhairle couldn’t resist as he noted that “anything that hadn’t been mentioned in the media” was confidential until they finished telling us what we already knew.
Every word of the budget has been leaked to journalists… https://t.co/tcS86waWTU
The buzz of a normal budget day was lacking, and if you weren’t certain, one senior minister who didn’t notice journalists in earshot loudly announced it “was absolute crap”, lamenting “you can’t even get a pint”. Tell us about it, Minister.
The pandemic has forced the iconic Minneapolis music venue to get creative.
MINNEAPOLIS — Whether you dream of a “White Wedding,” or “Purple Rain” on your wedding day, you’ll soon have the rare opportunity to book iconic music venue First Avenue as a wedding venue.
“Lucinda Williams actually got married on stage here,” said First Avenue marketing director Ashley Ryan. “We’ve had a couple of staff get married in the 7th St entry, but normally October, November, even into December, it’s our busiest time of year.”
If booking weddings sounds like selling out, Ryan says that’s the hope. For months, live music venues in Minnesota and most other states have sat in silence due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
“We have staff who have worked here for 20-30 years and since mid-March they’ve been out of work,” Ryan said. “So any kind of event that we can do to get people
Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank are celebrating their second wedding anniversary!
On Oct. 12, 2018, Eugenie and Jack wed at St.George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle with a lavish two-day celebration with friends and family, including her grandmother Queen Elizabeth.
To celebrate, Eugenie posted her first Instagram Reel that included a montage of nine photos of her and Jack, including three never-before-seen images from their wedding day and a cute one of the couple posing among snowy mountains with penguins in the background. The montage is set to London Grammar’s “Baby It’s You.”
She also shared a sweet message to her husband of two years. “Been the best 2 years married to you and 10 years with you in total…happy memories always my dear Jack,” she wrote.
This year, the happy couple has even more to celebrate as Eugenie announced
Saturday would have been the most popular day to get married before the pandemic, according to the Knot.
More than 104,000 weddings were scheduled to take place on October 10 through Knot’s registry. But, that didn’t end up happening. (Love may be powerful, but it can’t stop the coronavirus from spreading.)
Knot is a wedding planner app and website, which more than 25 million people have used to plan their wedding.
The majority of wedding guests said that this year, they preferred outdoor gatherings with less than 25 people in attendance. Couples also said that they wanted masks to be required, according to the Global COVID-19 Weddings Report.
For the couples that did not decide to change their wedding date, nearly all said that they were having to make changes or take precautions to adjust to the pandemic.

SWEET DREAMS Kelsey Stewart and David Kirk met at a friend’s annual April costume party. “Lucky for me that year’s party was pajama-themed. Otherwise David wouldn’t have made an appearance,” Kelsey says. Friends got the ball rolling by taking them to bingo night at a bar in Blackstone. They exchanged numbers and started dating later that spring.
NO NAGGING The day David proposed, they had taken a morning walk through freshly fallen snow at Gene Leahy Mall and then went out for a pizza lunch. That night, David came into the living room and Kelsey scolded him for not turning off his video game. “He still loved me enough to pop the question,” Kelsey says. “He said he couldn’t promise that all of our days would be as nice as that one was but he’d
Francisca Concha had other plans for June 27. In a perfect world, she would have enjoyed dinner with family on the deck of a boat cruising through canals in the Netherlands after marrying her partner of three years, Vincent. They would’ve ended the day with friends at a bar toasting their new life as a married couple. But instead, when the day rolled around, Concha, 32, and Vincent, 30, ate cake and champagne for breakfast in their two bedroom apartment while quarantining in the U.K., where they live. “We are known for cracking open a bottle of champagne for no particular reason,” Concha says, “so it seemed like the right thing to do.”
It’s a relationship milestone they’ll never forget. As the coronavirus forced the cancellation of large social gatherings, many couples made adjustments—from Zoom weddings to miniaturized, socially-distanced ceremonies—while others, who delayed their nuptials until next year or beyond,
The countdown is on for Cynthia Bailey’s upcoming wedding to her fiancé, Mike Hill, and we are starting to get a few fashionable details of her much-anticipated wedding day look. One thing we do know is that The Real Housewives of Atlanta model commissioned a slew of personalized face masks from fellow Bravoleb Jill Zarin and her daughter, Ally Shapiro, for the affair. And now, we’re getting a glimpse of her glamorous bridal accessories — including one surprising style choice.
“2 mo days,” Cynthia excitedly captioned her Instagram Stories as she displayed her chic handbag and shoes for her wedding weekend. In the shot, we see a sleek, cream zip clutch that is customized with the bride-to-be’s possible new name “Mrs. Cynthia Hill.” The petite purse is the perfect addition to her bridal look and can easily transition to an everyday pouch post-nuptials.
GAME DAY They married on a Husker bye weekend, which fell the day before what would have been her grandparents’ 50th anniversary. “Every Nebraska bride will understand the struggle in trying to have a fall wedding,” Kate says. They invited 160 guests, with the bulk of their budget going toward guest experiences, like the meal and bar.
SWEETEST MOMENT They’ll never forget reading their vows to each other. “We hadn’t heard them before the ceremony. It melted my heart to hear the words Eric put together,” Kate says. Their ring bearer, nephew Kingston, stole the show with his happy demeanor. He even got offers from other engaged guests to be the ring bearer for their weddings.
UNITED WE STAND They planted an oak seed from the Nebraska Arboretum for the unity ceremony, using mason jars full of soil from the backyards of where they
A Palestinian woman whose suicide bombing attempt was thwarted in 2002 said in a September Israeli television interview that she had felt “like a bride on her wedding day.”
Palestinian Media Watch reported on Oct. 5 that Shifa Al-Qudsi was describing the thwarted suicide bombing attempt, in which she was going to put 33 pounds of explosives underneath her dress while pretending to be a pregnant woman and then detonate the explosives at a Netanya supermarket. Israeli intelligence agents were able to arrest her before she was able to carry out the bombing.
Al-Qudsi told the Israeli television station that she wasn’t even “a bit” afraid about the bombing and nothing was going through her head.
“You just think … like a bride on her wedding day, who is preparing to go to her groom,” she said. “That’s the only thing that went through my head. I’m preparing to go
