A BRIDE saved her dad’s life when he collapsed and stopped breathing on the dance floor at her wedding reception.
Kim Leary, 37, resuscitated John Douglas, 65, after he “fell like a sack of potatoes” bopping to Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody.
Nurse Kim and groom Iain, 37, then spent their wedding night in A&E at John’s bedside, still in their wedding outfits.
She said: “The paramedics said he was very lucky to survive. Thank God he didn’t die.
“It would have turned the best day ever into the worst. I did joke I was glad he saved it for midnight and not when I was walking down the aisle.”
John, dogged by heart problems for years, had taken medication that day.
He had also been drinking tequila and his blood pressure plummeted.
Initially, doctors thought the collapse was down to incurable cardiomyopathy.

But tests showed it was coronary heart disease, which is treatable with lifestyle changes.
Kim, from Chester, said: “We thought he had about five years left with the previous diagnosis. We feel relieved and so much better now.”
John was in hospital for five days. He now has a motorised scooter.
